Training

At Chatterbox Farm, we offer several different training programs which cater to each horse’s individual strengths and weaknesses. We understand that each horse is different therefore each program is designed with your horse’s specific needs and character in mind. We believe that in order to bring out the best in your horse, variety plays an important role in a horse’s development. Therefore, we incorporate hacking, free jumping, jumping under saddle, and lunging using the Pessoa Lunging System into each horses program.  Here are some of the horses currently training at Chatterbox Farm:

Makenzie
Makenzie in training Andalusian/Thoroughbred Makenzie
Makenzie is a 2005 Andalusian/Thoroughbred mare. This mare has a super presence, turning heads wherever she goes. She displays great talent to be the perfect dressage mount for her amateur owner and her super sweet disposition makes her an enjoyable horse to train and to have around the barn.
Diego

Diego is a 5 year old imported Hanoverian gelding by Der Lord out of a Weltmeyer mare. Diego displays 3 fluid and powerful gaits and has a great work ethic. We have high hopes for this extremely talented gelding and look forward to seeing him develop. Diego will be showing in the FEI 5 year old class in 2010.

Dream

Dream is a 2006 mare by Don Frederico out of a lovely imported mare by Wunderbusch. This big, dark mare has a walk to die for and a very balanced, rhythmic trot and canter. Dream just recently came to Chatterbox, so we look forward to watching her grow.

Lumiere

Born in 2003, Lumiere is a registered Canadian Warmblood by the stallion Lynx, out of an imported Holsteiner mare. Maya has owned Lumiere since he was 5 months old, and has developed him herself from the beginning. He began his show career competing successfully at 1st level as a 5 year old and placed 3rd in the 5 year old Performance Futurity class held at Palgrave in 2008. In 2009, he competed at 3rd level and is now working towards 4th. Lumiere is a big, powerful moving horse with great potential to be a competitive Grand Prix horse in the future.

Outward Bound

“Ted” is an Appendix Quarter Horse born in 1997. Ted had a very successful year in 2009 showing 2nd level and is now well on his way to being confirmed at 3rd level. Ted has been in training with Maya for 2 years and has been a phenomenal horse to work with. His quiet, gentle and willing nature makes him a pleasure to work with, as well as his expressive movement and athleticism.

Ulita

Ulita is an 8 year old Dutch Warmblood mare by Rubinstein and Makelaar. Ulita competed in the FEI Juniors in 2009. Ulita came to Chatterbox in August 2009 to begin schooling 4th level. Ulita’s willingness has made her easy to teach, and her rideability makes her enjoyable to ride.

Victoria

“Vicki” who was born in 2000, is a Trakhener cross by the stallion Bernstein. This lovely black mare demonstrates great potential to be a competitive show horse, and her ring presence catches everyone’s eye. We look forward to watching Vicki and her owner achieve their show ring goals in 2010.

Pirate
“Jack”, born in 2006, is a registered Hanoverian gelding by the stallion Pablo (Pilot), out of a mare who is by Dressman (Delano). Jack came to Chatterbox Farm to develop his skills as a young dressage horse and to become a safe and reliable horse for his owner to enjoy and eventually show. Jack’s sweet demeanour made him a real gentleman to have around the barn!

"In September 2009 I sent my recently started 3 year old gelding, Pirate (aka Jack) to Chatterbox Farm for further training. Maya and her staff did an excellent job over the next six weeks extending his education and training under saddle. While he was there he was treated like royalty, housed in a giant stall, turned out daily and fed the best feed (I know this because when I picked him up, he didn't want to leave). He learned to be a confident, happy youngster with good ground manners and very responsive under saddle. The facilities and staff are second to none and I would heartily recommend Maya and Chatterbox Farm to anyone."

Sincerely, Lisa Wood
